Years ago I was telling a friend that I had gotten a $3200 refund.

It's not 3200 for a year.

At the end of January, it was 3200/12, end of February it was (3200/12)*2 and so on.

I got a $1 refund from the State of Illinois last year.  They sent me a nice check for it and everything.

Given their terrible budget issues, I was tempted to send it back and say, "You need this more than I do."

It took a while to convince my wife that we DO NOT want a big refund. She still gets mad when her friends brag about all the crap they bought with their refunds 


I tell her she should brag to them about the extra couple hundred she has in her pocket each month, while they're complaining about not having enough money at the end of the month 

(guess I should explain here that they're all teachers, so they get paid once a month on the 1st)

years ago, when I did them I came up with that I owed 1 cent. I sent the IRS a check for $.01. They cashed it. I have it in a box somewhere in the attic i think.
