Maybe a new test in a week or two is in order.  I am somewhere in the same range as you, I don't remember the exact number.  I couldn't even imagine doing the triathlon you just did.

Typically this test is used as a "diagnostic" test to investigate other issues, typically not a repeated test. However, I am definitely no expert on the PFT Test or claim to be!!

Need to get back to preparing some 16oz slabs of dry aged NY Strips for dinner!

and of course to infect my lungs by smoking a nice Perdomo Champagne.

Happy Easter!

Hope all is well, Stell!!   ;)

IZ, the Doc called today and said the test was "normal" and that my breathing "problem" is vocal cord related. Have you ever seen a patient with a low DLCO value but w/a vocal cord issue?  (wtf?)

Called the respiratory therapist who administered the test and asked him whether the test was normal as she interprets it or if he really did point out the low DLCO value as being a concern (maybe I misunderstood?).  He said the number should be 80+, not 48.

Left that message w/the doc.

Will be moving this to the NOGAS because I'm beginning to NGAS and will just deal.    [roll]

We do though...

Find a new doc?

a completely different way than you, you will be open to understand how that

New doc may be in order since her specialty is orthopedics (went there for a bum hip).

Speaking of which, time to go party for the newly deceased.

There will be much of:   [beer]    and     [wine]

I have to remember that today is Tuesday. Not Friday or Saturday.   ;)

try doping the next test by scheduling it at a doctor that practices at Sea-Level...more O2 down here

then you can pretend there is no issue if the results come up...that would be my approach

as for vocal chord diagnosis...... agree,,,,wtf?  how does your yodeler equate to blood gasses?...did this doc tell you to hold on to the ostomy gear just in case?

in any event try another test in another shop with fresh leak-free equipment

aside from quitting cigarettes I have been hiding from my lungs since 9/11

Right.  Maybe I'll keep the ostomy gear.   [laugh]

#27
So the doc's office called back today after I questioned her "vocal cord" assessment of the test and after I asked yesterday (through the nurse who called) to review it again to be sure since the one value was a concern of the respiratory therapist who administered the test.

What she looked at was the value related to exhaling.  Big WFT since we clearly discussed that exhaling was never an issue (which would relate to asthma and we both agreed that I highly likely don't have that).  Big oops on her part.  She looked at the entire report this time (gee, thanks lady) and retracted her referral to an ENT.

Processed the referral with their hospital network of pulmonary specialists but I said no thanks.  Refer me to the #1 lung hospital 1.6 miles down the street from me please.
