All,

Wife and I were going through our 3 hard drives last night and I have come to the conclusion, my shit is all over the place.

Are there any programs (preferably free, but will pay) to help organize my catalogues? We burn pictures to DVD every six months to store in our safety deposit box for safe keeping.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Brian R.

Robin uses Flick'r and loves it militantly. She housed all of my track day pics there and we can always find what we need at a moment's notice. But then that was all manually uploaded/sorted...

I've got free web IDs at both Picasa & Flickr and find myself using the Picasa most of the time these days, because it plays much more nicely with an Android phone. If you're on an Android & doing a fair amount of mobile shooting, it's worth a close look.

I guess I should have clarified....

I am not looking for an online platform. I don't like to post pictures on the net.

I want a program to help me organize my files on my 3 1.5TB hard drives.

I have so many duplicates, etc and want to clean them up by category.

Is this even possible?

unless they've changed it, picasa maintains your media locally w/ an option to share stuff on the web

don't want to? don't.

Now we are talking!

I was just curious if there was a local program you could use on your Mac (non-web based) that could help me organize my media. I like to burn all my photos to DVD and shove in my saftey deposit box once or twice a year.

Our company uses Thumbsplus a lot to catalogue construction photos. It's supposedly good if you want to be able to search for specific photos under a variety of different keywords. Might be overkill for you, but figured I'd throw it out there. I've never used it, but those that have say it works well. Not free, but at $129 it isn't outrageously expensive either.

I haven't walked on water, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
