If you have the cash and you are buying it for status.....why not buy the higher end models?  Could have had the 1199 or a Desmodici.  He wants a Ducati, good for him.  There's already tons of douche bags on Ducatis just like any other brand, so if you really think THIS example ruined Ducati ownership for you I'll buy yours on the cheap to help you save face  [laugh]

look on the bright side, this is what keeps ducati in the red to keep making new bikes.

if you didn't have all the posers, you wouldn't have all the great bikes for the true motorcycle fanatics.

if you have the money spend it how you want, JB buying a ducati doesn't do anything to hurt the brand if nothing else it it just puts more money into ducati sales so that they don't go bankrupt.
