Petition: TAC Victoria: Get real about rider safety

It would seem that a lot of riders here in Victoria are a tad pissed off with the latest TAC adverts aimed at Motorbike safety.  I haven't seen them as I don't watch much TV but it seems that they purport all Motorcycle crashes to be the fault of speeding riders rather than the car driver's inability to open their eyes  

So I'm passing on this petition information for all Vic riders to sign.  Cos I'm sick of bad car drivers and lack of road maintenance regardless of adverts.

I'm not sure if people outside Vic signing the petition counts but I reckon it should seeing as you ride down here too (on very rare occasions  )

Alternatively if the motorcyclist was travelling at or below the speed limit ... the car hesitates ... notices the bike is travelling slower and pulls out even later - rider has less chance to react ... result - WHO THE make the beast with two backs KNOWS!

Its all well and good to play hypotheticals ... but at least apportion blame where it truly lies. Speed will always be a 'factor' make the beast with two backs-knuckles - without movement you can't have a collision ... but if people ride/drive with respect there will be less incidences.

If the rider had been slower when yet another inattentive make the beast with two backsWIT pulls out then maybe the outcome woulda been different.  

No shit Einstein.  

Of course if the inattentive make the beast with two backswit actually gave driving a motor vehicle the attention it ought command.... then the outcome woulda been different too.  

Guess - as we all know - when you're involved in a collision on a bike... it doesnt matter who's at primary fault, you pay the highest cost.

Now you know why I "Cracked it"!! They tried this same shit with a campaign of Car vs Pedestrian with the same slow down by 5 kph or thereabouts and all would be fine!! 

Well that got the crap picked out of it by Road Safety experts and the public and (Unofficially) a lot of Police, and was shown to be the pack of crap it was!! 
I cant believe that the MORONS in charge wheel out the same simplistic, blatantly incorrect garbage yet again!!

While I do concur that the ad's message is not one I agree with, the whole knock of 5 thing is ridiculous, if I play devil's advocate for a sec, the TAC also have the other ad that takes the riders side, you know the one where the rider and driver "swap" and the message there is all about driver attentiveness, not rider fault. Maybe the TAC are just trying to cover all bases and are implying that no matter how we ride, idiot drivers will always exist so ensure the best odds.

I'm just saying, so don't shoot me

I wonder if, every time you see the advert you phone the TV station showing it and complain about the content (i.e. as a rider I find such scenes very distressing or my kids get upset seeing it etc), the station may stop screening the ads.  If enough people complain about the content they would have to stop showing it.
