2009 1100 monster or 2012 1100 abs monster?

Thanks everyone for your input! I'm smitten on to 2012. These bikes are private party sales. I know a new 1100 is $11995 but at a dealer you got tax, doc and all those other fees that involve getting it otd I'm hesitant to buy a new duck because of break in and maintenance. I live in northern Arizona, the dealer is in  phoenix, and I'm no ducati tech. And I've never bought anything new!!!! I'm planning on offering a cash deal and hope the seller will negotiate. Don't forget that, even with a private sale, you will still have to pay your local sales tax which could add another $1100-$1200 in Flagstaff, if I read the tax tables correctly.

You can reduce it a bit but fudging the number on the bill of sale but if it's too low the dmv will check the blue book price on the bike and charge you that.

If I were you I would check out how much it would be to buy it brand new and negotiate from there with the private seller.  Asking for MSRP on a bike with 2000 miles on it and bone stock is a bit crazy imo.

i agree. thats a bit high. Tell him your interested, but need to do some more "research".
Call him in a week, im willing to bet he still has the bike.. and is likely more negotiable now.

I don't know how it's done there, but in Texas when you register the bike, they tax you on the book value of the vehicle.
