my Golf was black on black in Texas heat...

the window tint is a MUST in Texas...I went for 15% (would like 10%) instead of the 25% legal...but the popo never **big knock on woods** stop me for that so I'm good to go!

It's like I keep saying:  Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.

Well...  after 4 times in the service dept for a LOW FUEL PRESSURE code within 4 weeks...

The black GLI is going away.  I just don't trust the car.  Besides, in the SW heat a black car w/black interior was a lot to deal with.

Dealer mgr will do anything for me...  Passat. CC. GTI. Golf. Tiguan...  Help me get completely out of my contract...  Anything.

BUT, I'm leaning towards a new white GLI which came off the transport yesterday...

And get them to pay my 1st payment as well...

Thoughts against rolling the dice a 2nd time?!?

We've only had good experiences with our past GTI and my present Golf TDI and her Audi, so I can only say go for it and I think you just got a bad one.

Low pressure from which pump?  What did the dealer do to try and fix it?   There have been problems with both the rail pressure sensor and the high pressure pump, neither very common.   I think there is a service bulletin on the problem.  Paging Zoom.

Duck-Stew

Low voltage from the body control module to the fuel pump control module causing (I believe) intermittent stumbling of the low pressure pump causing a low fuel pressure condition.

Car already got a new low pressure pump, fuel pressure sensor & a new fuel pump control module...  Now it's waiting on the VW level 2 tech to fly in & fix it and he's not 100% sure of the issue.  [roll]

I'm leaning heavily towards rolling the dice again w/the white GLI.

Just check the build dates of the two cars to make sure they weren't assembled at the same time.
Would suck to switch cars, only to have the exact same issue once again.

What you might want to ask is if there was an update to those part numbers, and if the new car has the updated part numbers.

Seems like the dealer was pretty cool so worst case if it is a POS like the 1st then he will probably step up again

Visit 1 was on day 1 @ ~110 miles.  Car stumbled going uphill @ ~40mph.  Took it to the dealership and they reset the codes and hoped for the best.

Visit 2 was within the first week @ ~400 miles.  Car stumbled @ ~40mph.  They looked into it and found a similar issue on another GLI so they duplicated that repair on my car.  Replaced fuel pump and fuel pump module.

Visit 3 was week 2 @ ~1200 miles.  Car DIED on me while driving on level road @ ~30mph.  Barely got it up and running.  Took to the dealership where they replaced the fuel pressure sensor.

Visit 4 was week 3 @ ~1700 miles.  Car DIED on me while driving up a light grade @ ~40mph.  **BARELY** got it up and running.  Car ran fine the next day back from Durango to Albuquerque.  They've had the car since...

Car now has ~2000 miles on it (300 mile trip back to Albuquerque) and it's in for it's 4th time for the same issue.

There's just something WRONG with this one I think...

Since both cars are right there...  I'll be doing that.  Thanks!  [thumbsup]

Yeah, they'll let me p/u the white one tonight and make my decision on the whole deal tomorrow...

we have replaced 1 pump...most issues we have had or heard about through our local dealer commiseration network have been the sensor on top of the in tank pump and then all fixed and better...I think ( complete personal opinion here based on general experience with things in general) it is a quality control issue with whom VW contracted to spec the sensor and make it for them...overall, there still aren't a lot of them failing...not to the point that I stock a crapload of them or anything...

I would go with the white one just to get the less heated interior for your comfort with the AZ sun!
