Hello guys,

It is a very sad day today. My red 2011 Monster 796 (4,500 miles) was stolen from my parking garage.

I already followed the basic steps, filed a report with the security staff in the building, filed a police report, and opened a claim with Geico.

Honestly, I don't have high hopes for it being recovered, so I am already starting to dread the whole settlement situation with the insurance company.

Has any of you gone through this, and could you please let me know if I need to do something else, also what to expect, and finally, what would be a fair and realistic settlement for a bike like this?

Thanks in advance

I hate thieves.

Have all receipts for any accessories and service records available.  It may also help to know Blue Book and Red Book retail values and adds for similar bikes in your area.

So to give you all an update, this is where I am currently at:

The security team from the building has yet to produce the video footage from the surveillance cameras on the gate of the garage, fishy, right?

The insurance company confirmed that they would send me a settlement offer based on what they establish to be the value of the bike minus depreciation and minus a $500 deductible. I'm guessing a low ball offer will be coming.

It all points that the security and management team from my building are either negligent or accomplices in this theft, either way, in my mind, they are liable.

Will keep you posted with any new developments, this sucks.

Thanks everybody for your input and nice messages.

Dont forget that they should cover any and all mods that were done to the bike... if you have the reciepts make sure you get them to them.

And I hope it all works out man, that really sucks.

Hey man,
Sorry to hear about your bike.
Same exact thing happened to me around the same time. It was if my bike magically disappeared.
In the garage of my apt building. Video shows absolutely jack.
Police did nothing basically.
Worst part is that they (North Bay Village Cops) park outside my building!
Got my settlement from Geico for a reasonable amount.
Was thinking of buying another bike but just gonna sell everything else now till I move.
Supposedly there's a group that goes around in a full size van and just loads bikes up that are parked in garages. It started last year in Brickell.
Sucks.
Good luck.

Man, i'm gonna be dreading the day that I would lose my bike.
