boo, sounds like he's calling it quits. Found a way out and took it. Think if he actually wanted to win the season, he'd keep pushing.

did you see the pics of his ankle?

rossi broke two legs and he was back sooner than that.

and said his ankle was fractured, not even broken.

I was under the impression from multiple other articles there were a few fractures, but that main worries were multiple torn tendons, not broken bones.
M620 turned M800 but then back to M620 after the M800 died at 110k, and now to Multi 1000.

That's ridiculous. The fact that he rode at Indy was friggin' amazing. He broke a few bones, and damaged pretty much all of the soft tissue. If he wanted to quit, he'd be done for the season.

If you want to talk about quitting have a look at golden boy Rossi...he's already packed it in this season. And when did he break 2 legs?

And the difference between fractured and broken would be..... ?  ???

if he rode at indy he should keep riding.

for me this blows open the whole season, who else is going to challenge lorenzo at this point.

Agreed. A somewhat boring season just got even more boring. Pedrosa could still challenge him though...we'll see.

look at it this way. he's already says family is more important than this circus. you think that crippling himself for the sake of the circus is something he's going to do now?
he'll heal, come back the last 1 or 2 races, win, and go out saying, the only reason Lorenzo won the championship was because I was out, just the same as when Rossi broke his leg.

you're not serious, right?  he should risk maybe being crippled?

"We were hoping that once they had seen the scans that it wouldn't be as bad as I first suspected and that we could race here, but in fact it was the opposite and a lot worse than first expected."

not that it hasn't been done several times, but if you need crutches to get on your bike, racing at all - let alone at this level - not such a hot idea.

who else is going to challenge lorenzo?  probably the guy who's been very consistent this year and is only 18 points back.  the guy ahead of stoner in the points.

and rossi broke 1 leg, in 2 places.
Like this is the racing, no?

He'll be back for his farewell party in Australia and Valencia and I'll be cheering for him. Rossi rushed back because he could see the writing on the wall. Stoner has nothing to prove.

more accurately, he's in no condition to prove anything...

His biggest chip on his shoulder were Rossi and JB's comments. In theory he could have just sat in a corner and grinned through it all. Now he has 2 championships with 2 manufacturers, including the only person to be consistent on the Duc. I would say that he's not fit and does not need to prove anything.

True.

Some breaks can be plated and screwed back together and you're riding in a few days, but not that injury. Stoner wanted to go out on top, he ain't quitting until after the season.
