You can walk right up to it Kni. You can't go down to the middle of it where they faked the moon landing though.

You have to pay to see the crater.  It's fairly stupid money.  There is also a museum type center there.

not on your path but Helen Georgia is always a weird sort of experience....a failed logging camp that re-invented itself

as a Bavarian Alpine Village...in an odd hillbilly sorta way

Been there it's a neat place to spend a weekend during Oktoberfest.  Skip the "Festhaus" unless you want to pay a cover for Oompah Band music and hit the local dive-ish bars.  Great entertainment.   I'm actually planning a day ride that will take me through there!

i have a few squishy pennies, a ton of pics, and we are in west yellowstone, MT.
going through teton out to burley, ID today. probably further dependng on what we see on the side of the road that grabs our attn.
