How many of you use a GPS on your bike when you travel?  If so, what kind and would you recommend it?

I currently use a garmin 1450 with a Ram cradle and mount--both bikes.

Garmin Zumo 220  [thumbsup]

Time consuming to plot a long ride because of all the way-points that needs to be identified, but when that is done it's very easy to follow. Bring a map to identify way-points!

I just bought the gamin app for my iphone, then i stuck it in a life proofe bike mount case/mount.  To be able to  charge i just routed  a wire from the battery tnder cable, with a use charger attached.  Ite nice, clean nd my phone stays charged

system error

I put the tom tom from the Fiat in my tank bag and usually just use paper directions in the clear park of the bag.  When I think I missed a turn I pull it out and and show myself that, yes, I have indeed missed my turn.   ;D

Garmin zumo 550. "Designed by bikers", Stereo Bluetooth headset-ready, glove-friendly touchscreen (which means you can place calls on your iPhone without  getting it out of your rainsuit pocket), plays MP3s, traffic option, blah, blah. Pricey, but worth it, IMHO.

do you have garmins mapsource ? software

i had garmin gps years ago and their pc software made it very easy to plan routes and upload to the gps

could also download data later and see where you went and how fast  [evil]
i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

I have that software - maybe it's just me, but I've seldom been so underimpressed  [thumbsdown] Compared to a modern trip planner like Googlemaps  [thumbsdown] [thumbsdown] [bang]  ...besides I don't carry a computer, so it's useless for me.

iPhone - garmin navigon.  Not really happy with their app policy change.  The traffic stop light photo camera warning addition is useless as it has never warned me.
If you have unlimited data, waze iis good app.
620M 2004 Dark i.e.; ~ 57K miles (all me);  Looking to swap out engine now.
Triumph Speed Triple 2006 (now ~ 44K miles bought @ 4K miles on 04/2010)
Honda Grom 2015 ~ 3500miles so far.  Love this lil bike

Wisepilot on BB Curve 9300. I think its available for other smartphones. Not a bad app for the price.

Will notify and allow others to track you along your route.

Likes to get you from point A to point B the quickest route. Still trying to figure out how to program my own routes.

Can't recommend it yet, but it is another option.

BlackBerry 9300. Tapatalk. FTW.

Garmin Zumo 550.  I've had it since 2007 or therabouts and it has been fairly flawless.  The only hiccup is it will overheat and get slow after about 6 hours in summer temperatures.  All buttons are left hand and the touch screen is glove friendly.

Wow!  Tons of information  [thumbsup]  Thanks for all the replies.  I'm just getting started investigating what would work best for me and still fit somewhere conveniently on my 999.  It's looking to be a lot harder than I thought  [bang]

TXGrillGuy

Garmin Nuvi 750 with RAM cradle and mount on my '08 Multistrada. (I have another Nuvi 750 I use in the car.) Unlike Zumo, it's not waterproof as I keep ziploc baggies handy in case of rain.

Gas cap camera mount + Ram ball would work as a good mounting point if you don't find some place up around the gauge cluster.
