Not as mentally challenging as trying to ID a two stage turbo by the turbine fragments he's pulled out of the manifolds. But great for some 'oh wow - wtf' moments.

For example, this gem

Oh - they found blinker fluid! Holy Crap
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

True story...years ago I worked at a dealer that had the maintenance contract for the local PD...

They said it didn't make any noise at all when the same condition was found...really.

I need to get around to pulling the head off the Corolla engine I have in the back of the garage.
Drove it home from the city on three cylinders (probably about 100 miles from the point of the initial flashing check engine light and loss of power)
I bet it looks fun inside, I put it back there years ago and never got around to taking a poke inside.
I'll make a point to do it soon and put a picture here.  [thumbsup]

Sounds like my 91 Accord.  Climbing a hit, #4 piston shattered.  Planned on limping home since it didn't put a hole in the pan/block.  Two hills later, because the shattered piston bits had gotten sucked agains the sump, #2 seizes, snapping the con rod.  It couldn't make it home on only two cylinders.  I've never seen a piston shatter like that.

I have one on a shelf in the garage that is flat on the bottom from when the front tire fell off a car I had at 45 mph about 20 years ago  [laugh]

You can make your own, just like they did... They probably made some magical 'no friction material' brake pads too, I'd wager.

Too bad I no longer have the pictures of my 9 piece VW camshaft...

It was a diesel 4-speed, and the timing belt snapped somewhere around 4500 rpm while merging in LA traffic.
