Other than a weapon, I can't think of anything else it could be useful as except for art projects.

I've got a bottle opener that's made from bicycle chain and a segment of a chain ring

I bought an old jeep several weeks ago, and the ignition key came on a homemade keychain made of 3 links of motorcycle chain with a ring through one of the end link's rivet holes.

Pretty cool.

I used to have one like that myself for a couple of years.
