They're too busy trying to reinvent the Monster.  :D

And figure out how to make non-inflating gas tanks (!)

The BMW posted above would have me selling both Italian bikes since I doubt I'd have to replace a BMW gas tank every two years.

problem BMW have is with reliability these days they are way behind Ducatis.
my local shop is full of broken down recent BMWs  most problems are electronic or poor quality issues

I own a GS, Megamoto, HP2e beside my 1996 M900 and 2008 S2R.  I have yet to have any issue with the BMWs, though they did have a higher price point when purchased.

The S2R is on its third gas tank, had fueling issues needing the DP ECU to remedy.  The M900 is an older bike so it's just a rolling project bike, but did leave me stranded with a failing voltage reg and clutch slave that failed.

Apples and oranges, I know.  Personally, BMW has their act together for the real world without the immediate need for accessorization that Ducati does.  I can't speak to the issues with the Panigale and MS1200 but I have heard a few rumblings about those models. (?)
