Jorge should have waited for the straight to pass Ellison, like Pedrosa when he passed IIRC Abraham.

some fodder from Ellison for ya to chew on...

QuoteEllison suggested via social media that he never saw Lorenzo before the incident. In addition, apparently there were no blue flags from the corner station to warn Ellison that he was about to be strafed by the leader of the race.

"In an interesting interpretation of the incident.."

exactly.  stfu george.  he did exactly what he should have done.  you didn't.
Like this is the racing, no?

He's the golden boy covered in mantequilla. He can say anything he wants, but it won't make it true.

Re-watched the incident.

He came up on the group of Espargaro, DePuniet and Ellison.
Barged up the inside of Espargaro, sat him up coming into a turn.
DePuniet was wide in that turn, so Lorenzo got past him easily.

Went through at least 4 turns before he was up on Ellison.
So he *had* to have had a pretty good idea of the pace Ellison was running.

Pilot error on Jorge's part.

And *if* Pedrosa had followed Stoner home in Australia, pushing Jorge to 3rd.... he'd have the #1 plate.

(in my opinion) if he was being impatient, he would've forced the pass. in this case, i think "slowing down" to pick a better place to pass is what unsettled his bike and caused the highside.

that's the way i saw it during the race, but i haven't re-watched the incident.
I didn't see any sign of him really trying to slow down.

He immediately moved to the outside, got off the dry line, and binned it on slicks on a drying track.

That's the way I saw it anyway.

Jorge wouldn't have pushed so hard for the win in Valencia had that been the scenario.  He'd back off.

Marquez is gonna be awesome next year.  By awesome, I mean a "bull in a china shop."

I was pretty bored by that race 'cept for a coupla things.  Happy to see Stoner get a podium in his final race.  You could almost see the anguish through Cal's helmet when he went down.  It was great to see George launch himself to Mars again.  He's been far to mantequilla lately, which leaves my need for bloodsport unsatisfied.  I really thought George was gonna save that one.  Then his bike decided it'd had enough of George's girlbits constantly rubbing up against it.  And, finally, how cool would it have been if all the guys that started on slicks from pit lane crashed into each other when they got all squirrley at the start (see prior comment re bloodsport)?

I know this is resurrecting a long dormant thread, but this seems to be a new(ly-posted) video both of the incident that got Marquez lined up at the back of the grid at Valencia, and a breathtaking aerial view of his charge through the field.  :o

What...

just because Honda supplied the motors to a series promoted by a Spanish company, with a Spanish team, a Spanish rider, and their name on the bike...

you actually think there might be some impropriety?  [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

And it shows pretty graphically (@1:59) how he repeats the 'go up the inside too late' move that got him to the back of the grid in the first place.

Triple J

I didn't see anything bad during the race, just aggressive riding. Everyone during the race knew he was there though, even the guy at 1:59.

I think the reason he moves thru the field so fast in the beginning is throttle position, as in his is open further for longer. He's just a better rider than all of those guys. He got a WAY better jump than the guy next to him at the line, and presumably did compared to the guys he passed. Plus, he's tiny so should have better acceleration. There's a reason why he always starts at the front of the grid.

Not to say he doesn't make douche moves here and there, I just didn't see one in that race clip (other than the one he got sent to the back for).
