So, we've been back with DirectTV for about three weeks now. Just have a basic HD box with DVR. Also, we have a 2nd box for our other TV in another room that doesn't get much use. Pretty basic setup that works fine. Or did until 3:45AM this morning.

In the living room, it's your typical A/V setup. One stereo receiver (pretty old, considered high end in 1994), the sound from the DVD, Wii, CD changer, DirecTV box, and xBox all run through it. Obviously video from the same sources all run to the TV in either component or composite since the TV pre-dates HDMI.

3:45AM, I'm awakened by Love it or List it suddenly coming on. Wasn't too concerned, just figured my wife left the stereo receiver on (pretty common occurrence) and we'd left the DirecTV remote laying in the couch or coffee table and one of the cats stepped on it turning on the box. Since DirecTV was what we were watching last, the receiver would still be on the DirecTV box as it's active source.

I head into the living room and well, the DirecTV box is still OFF. The DVR light is not on either showing DVR activity, it's completely dark. The remote is up in the remote basket on the mantel WAY out of reach of even our most adventurous cat. The episode playing was one that had aired earlier in the evening, we watched it about 9:00 or 9:30. We don't have the DVR set to record that show either. Curious, I power up the TV. Nope, confirmed DirecTV box is OFF, no video signal going to TV. I had to power up the DirectTV box, then power it back down to stop the audio feed

Anybody with FHE of a DirecTV box acting up like this? It's a new box, only a few weeks old. Anyone work with/for DirecTV and have heard of this or what causes it? Anybody with ANY input? I'd like to not get woken up in the middle of the night by a flaky DirecTV box.

Thanks
JM

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
