Impact energy dissipation innovation for helmets

Though helmets have come a long way they still rely on EPS aka Styrofoam to deal with the energy of an impact and transferring it, or hopefully not to your noggin. Looks like a cali company has figured out a better way to handle some of it.

Interesting concept.  I wonder how the performance varies as a function of temperature?  I like the way the helmet can absorb some of the rotational forces with the dual layers.  Sort of like your scalp without all the blood and skin.
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!

So these helmets- at least off road types are available now. But they are over $700 a pop - I hope they do well enough to bring the price down. The tech is interesting and looks promising I'd like to see it keep on.

I love that chart, because it blows away all that hype how SNELL is better than ECE ;)

They did a small piece on these helmets during the last AMA Supercross race. Apparently a few of the riders are wearing 6D helmets. Very cool.  [thumbsup]
