That's worse than my offs but I'm betting insurance covered it.  Homeowners doesn't cover sewer because its outside the house :P

Thankfully yes, insurance covered it.

Good luck with your OFFS situation. Maybe if every forum member sent ya one dollar..........
Wait, that's been suggested before. It didn't go we'll that time, best not do that.   [cheeky]

Well today is the day.

My front yard is all dug up. They brushed the water line with the excavator bucket and because it was old rusty steel it immediately burst. Blessing in disguise there. I'm having them replace the whole line.

Also my whole house smells like poop.

Old poop.

Yeah that.

On the upside they didn't have to tear into the road.

$1500 savings on permits.

bonus...

did they have to dig up the sidewalk?

Another question...

if they splice in now on your side of the line, and then have to go back in to finish the job because it fails again in the last few feet is there really any savings by the time they haul the equipment back in and everything?

Look dude...we don't judge around here. Some people just have a natural aversion to soap and water. We understand.  [cheeky]

The sidewalk survived untouched.

I'm not having the just fix the bad section. The water line will be new from the junction at the road all the way into the house. They're also adding a back flow preventer since we didn't have one.

The sewer line was more fubared. There is a good section of pipe coming out of the house and a good section sticking out from under the sidewalk. They're adding plastic pipe between the two.

At the house, the 4" line had a 3.9" root inside it.
