Flu Season!

I get hit by the flu every 3 years or so, and this was one of them and BOY was it powerful. Ive seen a lot of facebook friends come down with the flu and a quite a few personal friends come down with it as well. A little sooner and more wide spread then usual.

Ive been out of it for almost 5 days straight and I just stared eating solid foods again. At some point i was coughing so much my abs were just in overloaded, and eventually they just cramped up every time i coughed. Id have to crouch over since my abs couldnt hold my body up.

Kleenx just made a killing on me.

Just wondering if my misery is shared with anyone else here. I don't do flu shots either.

Right there with you He Man.  I haven't had a flu shot in at least a decade.

9 days of hell followed by several more days of coming back to the land of the living. I made the mistake of waiting too long to go in to get antibiotics (had sinus infection) thinking "tomorrow I'll be better, tomorrow tomorrow..."   

No coffee, beer, minimal food.  Had no appetite.

This was the first cold I've had in 7+ years and it more than made up for that flu-free window of time.

Went to bed early on Christmas, missed other get-togethers with friends, missed a friend's wedding.  Sucked.     I'm at about 90% now. 

Hopefully you're well on your way to feeling 100%. 

All Kleenex employees should be getting a bonus this year.

Misery sure loves company!

Im at about 90% right now, i caught the bug the night of the 2nd.

And no appetite wasnt an issue. i had an appetite, i just couldn't eat. i ended up dropping damn near 6lbs.

im just happy that i an take a deep breathe again and feel that tingly sensation of a deep breathe!!!!!

Most had it over x-mas and brought it back to work.

There are only a couple of us, including myself, that haven't caught it yet.

Local North TX kid went with his family for Xmas vacation to Minnesota to see kin folks. Within 24 hours the flu hit him hard, went to the hospital, contracted pneumonia which in turn became some nasty staph infection and within 48 hours the healthy 6'4" high school kid died. Bad juju.

Pictures of the youngster just 24 hours before going to the hospital made him look like the vision of youth and health. Bam! You're dead the next day! His family's request is that everyone get the flu shot. Even though the doc's say they are not sure even that would have saved him. Mother Nature... always looking for new and interesting ways to kill you off.

They offer us flu shots at work for free. The only time I let them give me one I got sick two days later.

I always get my flu shots at work and I still got sick this year. My daughter is not allowed to get flu shots (allergies) and she is currently under the weather; her temp has finally dropped but she has a horrible cough that is hanging in there.

Anytime I even start to feel crappy, like something might be coming on, I get some Tom Kha Gai (Coconut Chicken Soup) from a Thai restaurant, ask for it spicy -- it is prolly somewhat psychosomatic for me, but I swear it works, and kinda actually works for my wife now too.  It has all kinds of good stuff in it, lemongrass, ginger, chicken broth, cilantro

In chinese medicine they say you do not eat chicken when you are feeling either a cold, sore throat or anything like the two.

As for spicy,  man that will straight up put me in bed sooner than later!!!

I just sweat it out and drink plenty of alcohol. if .3% BAC is close to killing me, im sure its close to killing whatever thats getting me sick!!!!

I have some ghost pepper hot sauce that is probably killing anything biological in my system including me.

A couple years ago I came home early from work......sore throat, swollen glands, feverish with chills and a headache......Id get this once a year or more especially after kiddos started school.  Often it would turn into bronchitis.

I did a little research on apple cider vinegar.  Ended up drinking an iced tea glass of the nasty stuff.  Two days later, symptom free.  Havent had a bad cold since.  

Not saying a glass of the stuff is the answer......maybe a couple of ounces or a swig will help.
