looks to be a virago with a custom swing arm and a r6/r1 front end.

Yep, I remember that Virago on here someplace.

The front brake "reservoir" caught my eye, I've seen this done on the rear, never the front.  Would this be viable on a daily ridden bike?

I have seen many in the chopper and cafe circles do this. Looks neat but I'm not a fan. Reservoir cups are not just containers. The lid has a diaphragm and is air tight. A piece of hydro line with a bolt stuck in it (which is what many of them do) has neither property.
