Only half of that article was about the female demographic, the other half was about sponsorship. This is where MotoGP has completely dropped the ball. When the tobacco money was dropped, racing series (Nascar comes to mind) had to scramble to replace the money. They completely diversified, going after every possible dollar out there available from drinks to telephone companies. It didn't matter how small, they added another sticker to the car. This I believe has opened it up for the masses, since those companies will run ads with the vehicles they sponsor. If MotoGP would get their heads out of their asses and go for maybe smaller sponsorship, then maybe we would see more exposure, and hence more fans, including the female demographic. BTW, the biggest increase in a specific demographic since Nascar had to look elsewhere for money has been in... you guessed it... women.
