S2R-1000 Belly Pan

Just mounted a belly pan on the Monster and wanted to post some things I learned.

for 90 Euro delivered.  The website states 15-25 days delivery but it took almost 3 months and it showed up looking like this:



I would recommend ordering from monsterparts.com vs direct from Italy.  It will cost you a few bucks more but I bet it will be packaged better and if there are any issues it's much eaiser to work with a guy in Boise vs Italy.  Amazingly the pan was in one piece.  It was rough but intact.  It came with brackets and hardware but no instructions.  The brackets fit (with spacers) but the metric bolts did not.  I had to purchase 6mm Allen bolts to mount the brackets and the fairing. 


The first thing I did was to hold the pan under the bike to get an idea of where it mounts (remember no instructions).  I also down-loaded several pictures of belly pans from Google Images.  It was immediately obvious where the brackets mounted on the engine.  I then loosely mounted the brackets and held the pan up to check the fit.

I could see that I had to trim for the Header (ARROWS) and for the kickstand.  A dremmel tool worked like a champ.

When mounting the fairing you have to tighten the Left Front bracket before the fairing (It's covered) but the other three brackets are exposed with the fairing on.

When I attached the fairing to the brackets I could see that the fairing was being squeezed out of shape as I tightened it.  I used spacers on all but the left aft bracket.  A spacer on the left aft bracket would cause contact with the kickstand.  I used 1/4" rubber spacers with a metal core.  I found them in "specialty Hardware" at Lowes.

Then I took the pan off and brought it to the paint shop my Ducati dealer uses in Coopersburg, PA: Klaus Auto Body.  He did a great job for $100.  He said they had to patch some flaws in in the fan like pin holes and deep scratches but it really looks nice.

I hope this helps anyone taking on this mod.  It wasn't breading pandas but it wasn't buy & bolt on either.

Thanks!  I forgot to mention the replacement bolts to mount the brackets.  The original bolts are too short to hold the bracket in place and reach the threads on the engine.  I pulled the original bolts, marked them according to their position (left-front, left-Aft ect) then added the original bolt lenth + the bracket width to determine what bolts I needed to buy.  I hope that helps someone in the future.

It wasn't breading pandas

What's the hard part about breading pandas, dipping them in batter or rolling them in crumbs?

Great point!!! I think breeding them is more difficult than "Breading" them.

Pandas can breed by themselves. It takes a polished cook to bread them properly.

By the way, great post. I'll be installing my CF belly pan soon. I was hoping it would be a quick install. The seller insisted it would fit an S2R. Good idea to use the rubber washers. Mine came with no instructions as well.
