If you can make me something like this that will fit my DSS Monster, (swingarm mount? rotor? ???) I will reward you handsomely.

I am completely stuck on this end of my project. :( I keep throwing $ at it, but I don't like anything so far :(

I need that license plate holder....NEEEEEDDDD IIIIIIITTTTTTT!!!!

Vishwacorp

I've been looking to building something like this for my DSS Monster 620 as well. I found this picture a while back, and I was thinking of making something similar.

I personally think the "side mount" version is more subtle and appealing...not to mention easier to fabricate.  Have you considered this one?

How would that work with a double sided swingarm?

I've considered it, but on my 696, there are already too many things going wide on the bike - namely, the exhausts.  If I'm going to move the license plate, it'll be within the body of the bike.  Plus, with the tail chop, it wouldn't hurt to have a little fender-like help to keep rain off my butt this Florida rainy season - lol

I haven't made any concrete efforts to get this fabricated, but my plan is to mount an arm like in the picture of the red/silver monster that gets fastened with the axle nut. On the tire side, put the license plate, and the plastic mudguard from the Diavel to keep the mud/water off my back in the rain.

Where are you located and which model do you have? I'd be happy to build something for you, need to see if I have the right on hand to build off of.

I'm in Cleveland...mine's a 2001 DSS Monster. A little mudguard like pictured would be a nice addition in there as well...

Over on ADV, you should find that it is actually referred to as a "possum scraper"  and the f650gs one looks like this in all it's glory

Skybarney

Personally I love the fender/license holder that covers the tire.  The 650+ price tag (and still needing a fender eliminator) turned me off.

The possum scraper on the FS would look great on a Monster.  Actually much better than the Rizoma part......  Tail eliminator and no wet strip up the back or gravel in the seat.  [thumbsup]

Flat out love it.  Although I do think we will be seeing it coming as a "stock" item on more bikes.......

I could probably build something out of Titanium

Why use titanium when you can use junk steel stock from the local hardware store and and old licence  plate?
Rattle can black, of course.
I attach mine '2 holes' shorter now.
I ride every day rain or shine spring-summer-fall.
I tried the 'swivel up under the seat' but it was chewing up my rear hugger. Guess the roads here require a little travel from my suspension.
Plastic screws, no tools to attach. Sucker is OFF when no rain.
I'm on a dirt road so wet = a real big mess, this does help. Yeah it's ugly! Do I wish my Monster didn't come to me chopped?
I do now!
Something like OP posted, if it worked would be awesome.

I don't mind a little ugly. But GS ugly? whoa.

Skybarney

Nice mud shots!  I also live down a long dirt/gravel road.  Maybe we should start a Dirty Ducs thread......

Were it me needing a mud guard I would absolutely make my own.  Some ABS plastic, a couple of wingnuts and a minor mod to my Rizoma tidy tail and voila, a slick looking easily stored solution.  I am always happy spending money on my bike (No Kids) and the Rizoma while elegant is flat out outrageous in price.
