Sigh.  My dad went one year to a get together at the memorial -- the remaining folks from his battalion met one year.

The last time he went, I think there were less than 100 showing up. 

He re-upped for Korea too. Balls like solid brass, forever.

 Apparently the park service was told to put up the barricades and keep people out. But none of the rangers would lift a finger to keep those guys out.

Those men truly were Americas Greatest Generation.  Most did not join the military for a paycheck or because of limited opportunities.  They fought for their Country because it was the right thing to do.  Would any of the park rangers tried to arrest one of those veterans things would not have gone well, not if I was standing there anyway.  

I have so much respect for those men that I would risk my own freedom and my own life to protect a single one of them from harm.  Glad the Rangers felt the same way.
