some sort of steam motor for running the fan in the background
it was replaced with a DC motor that the belt goes to now and the whole thing was abandoned years ago and the duct work disconnected

Pretty sure the ones in the vid are model E's 30 HP drawbar 60 HP belt. 2cyl with a 10"x 12" bore/stroke.

Lethe, was your garage a machine shop in the 10's or 20's? that looks like a variable speed take-off from a main line power feed. (very cool) one motor (much like the one that started this thread) ran a shaft that would run multiple pieces of machinery.

The original garage is 20x40 and then in the 60's he added on the 10x40 on the side and the 30x30 in the front.
A bunch of the really cool stuff got auctioned off before we bought the house such as the ice fishing rig the guy built that he'd drive right over to the lake and fish from inside of

That ice fishing rig sounds really cool Lethe!  The motor in the attic is plenty cool too.
