The GOAL for this personal project is to simplify the bike and replace everything that has deteriorated. After putting about 12,XXX miles in 5 months and having problems/issues every month I think it needs an overhaul anyway. I promised my wallet I would be gentle with this project (college), so no major modifications hopefully but we will see. Enjoy.

The day I passed my MSF course I went out and bought my M900 w/13,999 on the clock

Cars and Coffee Irvine Ducati Riders Club & MV Agusta Ride 2013

5 months and 12,XXX miles later it was time. My eyes were unhappy at how dirty she was. Also the horrible electrical work done by the previous owners..... Before the breakdown

The next day....

Separation of Engine and Frame

My budget engine stand and begin de-greasing.

Belts, Clutch Plates, 14T/40T Sprockets, Chain and Snickers from CA-Cycleworks

Pressure Plate, Springs, Aluminum Basket from Pro-Italia

-Ordered Regulator Rectifier to address the charging problems hopefully

-Frame will be powder-coated (hopefully close to the OEM Ducati Gold). Swing-Arm, Valve Covers,
Engine Covers and other small parts will be powder-coated as well (Satin Black?)

-Keeping the Mikuni Carbs so I'll be completely rebuilding these. (Help with parts would be appreciated with this)

-Making my own harness so that I can route the wires to be hidden.

Board sponsors have jet kits, needle jets, etc . PowerBarn (not a sponsor to my knowledge) have gasket rebuild kits for the OEM Mikunis. Try our sponsors first, they give good deals and are true believers.

Change the needle jets when you overhaul the carbs. Replace OEM items with Factory Pro needle jets. A jet kit also will help performance.

Thanks for the input. I've never worked with Carbs before so this will be new. I'll most likely get the FP kit from CA-Cycleworks. As far as gasket kits, I've seen kits on uk-ebay with more parts than the ones sold on powerbarn ?

The stock needle jets/emulsion tubes wear out quickly and effect performance and economy. They can wear out in 10,000kms/6000 miles. The Factory Pro website has pictures of worn needle jets/emulsion tubes. The Factory Pro emulsion tubes are good to add to the Factory Pro jet kit when overhauling the carbs.

The PowerBarn gasket kit had nearly all the gaskets and O-rings including the float needles but no other hard parts. The O-rings under the needle jet holder block were not in the kits I received, they are fragile and can break when changing the needle jets, so be careful. If the ebay kits have more parts then that's good as long as they are good quality.

First casualty, inspected the throttle cable and noticed that I probably broke the adjuster nut when taking it off the CARB.  [thumbsdown]

I use to do all the work on the street but since moved it into my side yard. Cop drove by and told me I was making a mess on the street and said it was illegal? It sucks working on it outside but my garage already has two cars in it with no space. It's not cold here in SoCal so it works out fine  [thumbsup]

Here's an example of the mess I made on the street lol.

As for the carb gaskets, the Yamaha TDM 850 used the same mikuni carb, and parts can usually be found cheaper searching for it. Here are some gaskets a little cheaper than Powerbarn (PN 48-1940):

Thanks I bought it from there last night. It's coming from Canada (eh?) and it came out to about $25 less than powerbarn including shipping too.

Not bad. Good exchange rate?

Yeah not bad at all. I'd wait the extra 3 days to save $25. That means I can eat something else besides Ramen  [laugh]

Fresh Canvas for Art. Powder Coating next but I'm so indecisive with colors  :-\ . I definitely need to get some SS bolts for the upper/lower tree. I've been contemplating making brackets to lower the cluster as well but we'll see

Also for your viewing pleasure (still dirty but I tried)

MotoPsycho

If you're going that far, Nichols motor mount bolts are cheap insurance for the money spent.

With the carbs, inspect the rubber diaphragms for the slides. TDM800 works as does Suzuki DR-650. The latter was easier for me to get.
