Can it be cut down safely? Would it create a bad form of bias? Is this a stupid question?

Yeah I sorta figured it was a dumb question  :-[

I just hate the look of the DSS and would like to change it.

get one made out of ti so it can be smaller with same strength?  allthough i know certian aspects of Ti make it a bad choice due to different stresses?   also its expensive..

Someone got industrious and had a new one CNC milled out of a huge hunk of billet... but if I recall the costs was rather horrific. The block of metal was the better part of a grand before it ever was touched by tooling.

How difficult of a mod would that be? Stew?

What about a SS swingarm with the shock mount on the vertical valvecover?  I cant remember if it was NCR or another company that sold the mount.  The swing arm looks a bit better & loosing the linkage would prob. drop some weight.

silas

How about an SSS from an S4 !
Or a JMC braced swinger ($$, nice alum piece but heavy, w a geometry changing eccentric adjuster)    A friend had one on an SS yrs ago.
Apparently quite a few people have done the S4 SSS on M900's ...machining engine cases a lot

That's come up a few times here and on the other Duc boards. Apparently requires drilling the cases and quite a bit of other fabrication and $$.

Dub Luv used an SS swinger on an S2R frame I believe...looks like all it required was the valve cover mount.

Upper shock-mounts are going to be an issue.

Powdercoat the swingarm black and any ugly you saw before goes away.

I always loved this swingarm.  I can't remember who made it.
