-5 on the way to the shop yesterday. That's cold enough to make my clutch pedal return to the top at half speed :o

About 4 inches dumped on us last night while wife and I were out with friends. All I know is this winter can make the beast with two backs off.

Side note. Im a champ at driving in the snow. Maybe I should take my talents to a rally course.

the snow is so thick and so frozen, it will most likely still be around in may  :-\

There's always some patches left here in May...even after a mild winter.

I'm hoping it'll be gone in July. :P

We really haven't had a pile of snow here this winter.  Most of it has went South of us. Just pretty cold.  It was -3 this morning.  We are at 6+ feet of frost in the ground so far this year.  Starting to get concerned about my septic system freezing up.  The longer period of sunlight and the higher sun angle is keeping the house warmer though.  Heading out skiing tomorrow.  Gotta get my turns in before the hills close for the season. I'm hoping the ice fishing picks up for late ice.  There is over 3 feet of ice on the lake so that will take a while to thaw.  We'll be ice fishing til April.

On living where it's cold........

Front door is drifted in again after last bilzzard.

$500/month +/- utility bills.

While my friends in warmer climates are getting cool sports cars, I can't.  Instead, I need to buy two sets of tires for every vehicle - all of which have at least AWD, cracked widshields, and make ungodly noises when starting up in subzero temps.  Truck windows won't go down or, worse yet, will go down but not back up.

Garage is a mess of muddy slush.

Gotta plan travel well in advance - can't just jump in the car and go.  At least, gotta clear off snow, scrape windshield, and warm up engine.  While working at a site, vehicles always are running with heaters going full blast - can't be good for 'em.

Need a plow or snowblower in addition to a lawnmower.

On the bright side, despite all the inconvenience and loss of disposable income, there is little in life quite as satisfying as the splat of a well-aimed snowball hitting an unsuspecting victim.

I'd give up snowballs for higher average temps in a heartbeat!!

Beautiful, sunny -11 this morning.  Wife and I are headed out skiing in a bit.  I guess later in the week it actually might get up to about normal for this time of year. Somewhere around freezing.

If you live in these climates, you need to find things you like to do in it.  I would imagine living in an urban area would limit your options for winter fun.  Great outdoor gear helps a lot.  There is no inclement weather, only inadequate equipment!

All this negativity about something out of our control??!!  Of course I'll be crabby when everything turns to mud here in a few weeks.

I looked at the weather app that came with my phone, and later this week it is supposed to be "cold" and then "dreary".  They actually use the word "dreary"!  [laugh]  Get me out of here!

Could'a been worse, they could have called it "drab".
Two things I don't do.  Keyboard bullies and hypocrites.
Feel free to PM me if needed, otherwise you will find me elsewhere.
