Riding back home from lunch today it occured to me that I've been riding motorcycles for a bit more than three years now and it all started with the MSF class out in a high school parking lot in Bedford.

Not to get all nostalgic or anything [roll] but the whole moto "lifestyle" has added so much in terms of fun, friends and social stuff I just wish I'd started 20 years sooner.

So!  That said, I hope everyone that's taking the MSF course this weekend has a blast!

P.S.  Once you get off those outrageous little 125cc "Cruisers" they've got for you to do your skills test, you'll be SUPER pumped to get back on your Duc  [laugh]

i actually hadn't ridden, or really even heard, a ducati until after my MSF course.  i'll always remember riding that M600 about 150 miles home...with a rear tire that was just about ready to show cords...  good times.

Yup, I learned a lot and got to do some of the stuff in the rain.  [moto]

I thought it was cool because we had some fun and acquired skills that are now routine.

you routinely find yourself in a parking lot in the rain on a 250 nighthawk driving in tight circles??

has anyone taken the advanced rider MSF class?  How is that one?

Yep, it is really cool that the MSF courses are around and so popular. My MSF course consisted of 10 years of riding dirtbikes and racing MX. Those first few years of road riding on the old RD350 Yammyhammer luckily went OK. I obviously survived... so far. But lots of people don't have dirtbikes and places to ride them to learn those basic riding skills. Some dirt riding combined with the MSF course would be the perfect training ground. All that sliding and skidding (and yes, the falling...) on dirt teaches you a lot about riding skills and balance that you can't safely duplicate on the street or parking lot. Swanny and Lisa know what I mean.

Again, good luck to all those riding the course this weekend!!! Stay hydrated! [drink]

Nope, but I've been wanting to take it. I took the regular MSF course three years ago. The advanced classes are sparsely scheduled, so it makes it difficult for me to go.
