Great ideas here guys. I am working diligently to complete a few pieces before I can start throwing them out there for shows and donations.

In the meantime, I will catalog and take a look at all suggested organizations/charities that have been mentioned in this thread.

In my own head, I imagine doing something for the children. I passionately believe that every child deserves a chance in life. I'd love to be able to make a positive difference in those children's lives in any way that I can. I also like BP's idea of helping out those who have given so much for my freedom to even be able to do something like this.

This will definitely be a process and I will keep y'all updated. I'm excited to learn something about both myself and the people around me. I can't imagine anything better than putting a smile on somebody else's face.

Thanks again for the info and keep it coming if there are any other suggestions.

Anybody that would like to view previous work can see it here.

The site is a fairly new creation by me so cut me a little slack on that end.

donate your time.... it carries more weigh than money.

This is an option.  I've driven a bus for various local groups free of charge (granted the county still billed mileage for use but I can't stop that nor does any of the money come to me) so at least they only had one bill for using the bus instead of two.

However, if you're wanting to donate a creation, look around for benefit auctions.  A lot of fund raisers around here are auctions of donated artwork.  The proceeds (basically all auction monies minus any venue related costs) go to the named beneficiary.  Keep an eye out for benefit ads and similar banners.  If they can't use your donation, or it's too late, I'm certain they can help you locate/contact other similar groups/needs/etc.
