Hey everyone,

I hope I'm not derbying this, but I've searched in here, ducati dot ms and ducatiforum dot org and never saw it mentioned.

What I have seen plenty of times is the issue: side stand scraping on left hand corners.

So, in between other measures -that will be taken-, such as raising ride height by using a 796 or even 1100 clevis, removing sidestand for trackdays, and spending a lot of money on rearsets, I found this in a Spanish forum: http://monster696.es/threads/1760-Soluci%C3%B3n-a-la-pata-de-cabra/page2

Basically, part of the problem with our severely low sidestand has to do with it not retracting fully, so when retracted, it sits somewhat horizontal. What happens is when you are in a left corner, with your suspension compressed, and you get some lean, the tip of the sidestand rubs easily on the ground.

The trick is to grind out the little square piece that sits just low of the stand's sensor piece (the round thing), so the leg can be retracted all the way up, to hide beneath the footpeg, like post #7 shows.

I haven't done this yet, but I definitely will, and will upload photos. The procedure is pretty straight forward, so besides looking at the pictures, it's not necessary to take a crash course in Spanish.

The poster does comment on having solved his issue this way (plus raising the shift lever a little), as far as his leaning skills go, at least.

So, as well as advising you to be careful if attempting any of this, and using your own judgement to evaluate the matter, I hope I contributed to some 696 owners that, like myself, are willing to do something about this.

:)
