Zinc Plating - Beware!

As part of a custom job I'm starting soon on my '97 M900 I decised to get all the nuts and bolts zinc plated black after seeing what I thought was quite impressive on a plater website. Taking to the guy at the platers he assured me the results would look great!

looks like he spray painted them black and them hit them with a propane torch.  That stuff looks like it is little more than wrist rocket ammo (hint) anymore.  Can it be undone?

The plater made an error, he did the 'patina' process.
There's quite a few wanks who'll pay silly money for that.

Seriously, that's unacceptable.
It's plating, so it should be reversible/repairable.
