QuoteSomeone skool me...wouldn't you *want* a bit of flex in a piece like this?  I don't know anything about carbon fiber

Carbon 101 (very basic)-- Carbon is rated according to stiffness which is called Modulus (Standard, Intermediate, and High).  The stiffer (higher modulus) the carbon, the stronger it is but more likely to snap vs bend at its limit.  You can blurr this with cloth thicknesses and resin types and resin ratios so IMO you need the whole picture to know the truth but knowing the modulus is good enough for casual conversation.

As modulus increases so does the cost of the material, and since all the carbon we talk about is "Jewelry" you can assume it is the cheap-er (none of it is cheap) standard modulus.  That is why I suspect you can get some flex out of the part with out worrying too much about catastrophic failure.

Do you want them to flex-- I did not want mine to flex, because the stock ones do not flex, but I did not feel mine were going to break due do a slight vibration at speed.

i think you'll be fine.
i actually ran over one of those CF side frame covers with my passat wagon. NO JOKE they only had a scuff and didn't break. and you know how they are sort of curved, i was expecting to see carnage, but felt as if i ran over speed bump.

I've rocked mine on the monster for years, never had any issues

I think I'm over it but check my photos comparing the Truck-Lite to the OE unit. It's effin absurdly heavy.

Although the carbon bucket does offset quite a bit of that. That's why I "had" to get one. :P
