As someone who lives on the other side of the world from NFL games, can someone explain this?

Assuming the Pats did have under inflated balls for use in the game, how do they manage to keep them for themselves. Doesn't the other team use balls from the same pool when they are on offence? Its only an advantage if you keep it to yourself right? Or does each team use their own supply? I've not picked up on the answer from watching games.

Each team supplys their own. Kickers also have specific balls.

Balls are switched out frequently. The colts intercepted one of Brady's passes, and that's how it was discovered.

It's not a new form of gaining an advantage, so I'm confused as to why the refs don't supply the balls, same as in baseball.

I don't even think Belicheck cares about being fined. They won the game and I read they might be fined $25000. This is nothing for Kraft. Now other coaches will be trying to figure out what he might do next to gain an edge which will divert focus and energy from their normal game plan. He is the master of head games.
