They are-they get what's called "second string wages".
I'll take it, what the league minimum these days ??/ of course they're gonna be used (PED) EVEN BY THE SECOND STRING which in todays multiple situational package lineup deal means everyone plays some and ALL jobs are one the line

looked it up base minimum for a rookie is 450,000 and thats just base, no signing bonus or preformance incentives, no wonder kids ,even in high school, are using PEDS, how many opprotunities are some of these guys gonna have in their lifetime to make that much LEGALLY

If the balls were inflated to 12.5 lbs in a 72 degree equipment room at the 50 degree game temp they'd be 2-4 lbs lower if the same rule of thumb applies to a football.

Sounds reasonable, except the Colts balls weren't low on pressure. Depends where they were originally tested for pressure though. You'd think they'd all be tested in similar conditions (i.e., outdoor or indoor).

...and if you think any NFL team isn't doing the same...then you are too. :-*

Ya, I'm sure you're right.

I dont think the rules specify, I think  thats what Belechek meant by following the letter of the law, He tested inside (and likely to the lowest measurement), the colts tested outside, so the obvious would be he knew the pressure would drop, another example of NFL rules that are unclear and vague

Also remember the refs signed off on the first ball.

When did the Colts bring the under inflated ball to the refs? Couple hours later? It would take a while for the temperature of the ball and the pressure to drop.

If the rule doesn't specify where the pressure is measured then the Pats followed the rule.

Sooo...

Mr. Wizard...what was the pressure of the under inflated balls?

It's been stated that 11 of the 12 balls were at least 2 psi below regulations.

I have no idea what happened, but the reason we're dealing with this is because the NFL's policy on game balls is f'ing stupid. Allowing offenses to supply their own balls is just asking for controversy. Brady is a great QB, regardless of what happened and Belicheck is a great coach...maybe the best of all-time.

Go Hawks though!  ;D

As we all know accurate air pressure gauges are difficult to find so maybe that was the problem.  :D

a) I agree that allowing each team to provide their own ball is just asking for controversy.

2) I think that the balls in question were 2 psi below the "maximum" allowable......so that would make them 1 psi below the minimum? Right?

Asking for clarity, because it seems like the reporting on this subject is.....inflationary?
