See if you can take the 916 for an hour's ride.

Ride it a little bit in the city too, see if you enjoy the bike enough to deal with that.
They're not so friendly in heavy, slow traffic.

There is the opportunity to exchange my 06 S2R 1k that has 10.000 km (6.000 miles) for a 96 916 Senna. Lets suppose there is no money back from either side. A simple exchange.
My actual status: a love my bike, dedicated a lot of time building it the way I like. But always loved the Senna since it was lauched. I like the better sitting position of the monster and like to ride 300km (200miles) on saturdays.

But my wife is now pregnant and for the next years I will not ride as offen as I do today. And my wife will not ride with me for the next years, as she does sometimes today.

What do you guys think??? Is it a good or bad deal?
S2R1k for a 916 Senna???

just as reference: my bike (exbox, clipons, matris damper, barends, etc)

I'd keep the S2R

The "value" of the bikes is very subjective, and really only if you keep the miles low and wait 20+ years.  Parts are going to be easier to find for the newer bike.  The uncomfortable heat from the 916 exhaust is a consideration -- does it get hot in Brazil?  (haha)

I'm thinking about getting rid of my M750 and 998 for a S2R1K, so I say keep the Monster!

Monstro

You're all getting close to convincing me!

Even if I go for it, your replies will make me thougher in the negotiation!

And I appreciate very much! Thanks!  [thumbsup]

I can't believe this is so lopsided in favor of the monster.  your s2r is nice but this is one out of 300 and it's a dream bike.  yeah the monster is more practical and prolly more reliable but it sounds like the perfect time in your life for this to be your primary bike. these bikes shouldn't be in the hands of curators and collectors-- they need to be ridden.    A couple years down the road pick up another monster.  I couldn't do an sbk for a primary bike because I commute plus I can't seem to keep it upright.

but, yeah take it for a test ride see if you can live with it.

If it is truly a "Senna" version...I would have already done the deal.

YEAH, its the first Senna version.

The negotiation takes time. Lets see what happens...

oooohhhh the 916 senna... my fist love based on lust alone!
if you plan on riding a lot... stick with the S2R. Less likely to cost you and arm and a leg down the line... just an arm and a few toes

No brainer on this one -- Senna 916.  Collector I know just paid $22K for a zero mileage one for his museum.  He has another one he rides on occasion.

Are you kidding me?!?! Talk about no brianer!  There's a reason muscle_cars_only is itchin to get the address of your friend. #100 Senna 916 is something you keep forever!!! Most people today don't care about the history, heritage, and emotion of a bike(or a car for that matter), but anyone who knows the story behind the Senna will say the same thing. You can buy another S2R or other modern Ducati anytime, coming across a bike like that is much MUCH harder. Hell, #175 pictured above is in a museum for God's sake!

Dawm! I just lost the deal.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

My fried sold the Senna to another one that gave him more cash back than what I offered.  [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang]

Hope that this has happend to my best.

I told him, if one day he buys a 1098 Tricolore and wants to sell it, to talk to me first before closing the deal with anyone!!!  ;D

But I am still in love with my baby S2R1K. And the money I would spend on the Senna, is going to make my beautiful baby more beautiful and exclusive!!! [thumbsup]  [moto]
