After about 4 bikes it is hard to give each bike the love and attention they deserve.  At 6 bikes it gets hard to have a life lol.

Try 14 runners. I don't own them- they own me.

I'm fine with (the perfect) one I have, but also once in a while reminded that I let myself down by not having a SC Sport 1000S  [drool]

I agree that 3 is perfect. I also agree that those particular three are pretty damn good choices.

My greatest fear in life is that when I die my better half will sell my Ducati's and tools for the price I told her I paid for them!

I like the N+1 theory, but when I think pragmatically it gets capped at 5:

1) street bike
2) track bike
3) touring bike
4) dirt bike
5) project bike

I have 3 of the 5.  If I didn't live in this damn expensive city where a 300 sq ft apartment rents for $10k/mo, I'd have all five.

I like that breakdown, but I'd add a vintage bike to the list.  It's fun to have a bike you can kickstart and just toddle along on backroads.  Granted the project might be vintage but I assume that's more to wrench on than to ride.
