Ducati Paso 906

I know it's the wrong forum but I've been offered a '89 Paso 906 real cheap just wanted fellow Monster nuts opinions, comments, feedback and any general info!

I believe the carburettor models have major electrical issues but that's as far as my knowledge goes so all input welcome

906 is carbed (Weber) with 16" wheels, 907 is ie with 17" wheels.

This is why I passed on one a couple years ago.  Not much in the 16" range and yes, the 906 is a 16" tire IIRC.  I wouldn't concern much about the carbs, just check to see if you can get maintenance parts (gaskets and jets and such) for them.

Performance car shops can get Weber parts. The issue is tyre choice and handling characteristics that can be odd. I only know this from the Paso forum. I have only ridden a 907ie with 17" wheels and it was a nice bike. First Ducati I ever rode actually.

How cheap are we talking and can you get cheap rego for it? There are tyres available now, but I forget the brand. Check out Ducatipaso.org, an informative site. I hung out there awhile when thinking of getting a Paso, but my plans changed.

If you buy that bike I wouldn't want to put much effort into the stock twin choke Weber carb.  When right they didn't work so well.  Common was to fit a Mikuni conversion set up, or, if you don't need a choke, FCR 39 flat sides.  There should be info on Paso forums.  Those folk are a dedicated bunch.

What I gleaned from the Paso forum was that there was excessive fuel pump pressure to the Webers and people fitted an in line regulator. There is still the issue of tuning them and much has been documented there about that. People did opt for the easier Mikuni CV 38 option and manifolds off a 900 Monster or 900 Supersport. Some went to the expense of FCRs or
Delortos. Pod filters were used although some made up their own airboxes.

The Pasoists really are a very dedicated bunch.

These tires are (pretty much) specifically made for Paso, 750 F1 pantah and DB1.

There is another company which I think owns Golden Tyre Co which sells them in Oz. They bought Firestone out iirc. Someone will know the Co.

Carbs are funky but work ok.

906 was a 900 engine case, liquid cooling and a 1-model-only 5-speed transmission.

I had a shot to get one for free.  I passed on it.

16" tires are tough to find...no?

not any more.  Shinko and Golden Tyre are available.  not too many choices, but they are available without much effort.

The Shinkos are decent,  I have a pair on my 600ss and they are as good as Pilot Roads
