The oem bikini fairings provide surprisingly good protection for their size, are easy to fit and keep the bike basically naked in style. A good balance. Might be the solution.

I was in a similar situation a while back. I had mostly naked bikes with low bars from the late 70's until I acquired a BMW K1200RS around '99 or so. From that one I went to an R1100S, a mostly faired bike with an exposed engine. It was when I bought my first Monster at the beginning of '13 that I found myself lusting for a early '90's SS fairing for my Monster. I had become rather fond of the protection that a sport type fairing provided.
Then during a visit to Moto Corsa here in PDX I saw a Bimota DB5R in the used bike department. Love and lust at first sight! It has the motor that my Monster had, a red trellis frame, and a fairing that showed off the frame and the engine! What could be better?
The fairing mounts are not that big a deal imo, those selling race fairings can assist in that regard, all the rest is just fiddling details, if that is what you want I say go for it, or alternatively go buy a Bimota!

Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever put a Ducati 1098 Gas tank on their 620 monster? I was looking at the frame shape and Air Filter box location and they look very similar. Plus those tanks are CHEAP! I know I would probably have to change the seat as well. Anyone have any input on this topic?

Thanks.

Thanks for the help! I think the 1098 fairings look really shape. The biggets problem I see with that is getting headlights for the thing and being able to mount them on aswell.

You can either weld on frame mounts for the headlight bracket or build a clamp style mount for the bracket.

I'm new to the monster world also.  Just got a S4RS and was looking at these tanks.

Those tank & body kits were AFAIK made by someone else, for Radical.

Should be plug & play, but be aware that S4R(S) has bigger heads and might not fit under these tanks. Should be easy to ask and find out.

I have a used set of fairings in a Ducati corse design made by nice cycle off my 1098 I am selling. Not perfect but most parts are in decent shape. If you have any interest, let me know. I think it's a pretty cool look personally... Make me an offer ...

I'd love to find a bigger tank for my S4RS right now I get about 75 miles then I get the low fuel light. One of the things I've noticed about the S4RS it was kind of a short run, I think only 3 years, so finding parts specifically for the model is a little tricky.

BTW I am on my third nylon tank, luckily I did not have to pay for the two replacements. On this last one I had the tank coated first, but it is still slightly larger than the original, at least not lumpy, bit a bit of a PITA to re-latch

Not a fan of the paint scheme, but the fairing in general isn't half bad!
