Saw a little seaplane at a mall exhibit that had one of the LS motors in it, IIRC.

Pilot there said it was way better than the unreliable engine it had originally.

My uncle flies and has two planes -- always pregnant doging about the cost to get stuff repaired and the FAA inspections etc.  His planes are bone-stock piston Bonanza and a Mirage. 

Putting a non-AV motor in.. just seems like it would be hard to get past the FAA.. then again, maybe it's been done so many times it is an accepted alternative now..
