Removing the secondary air system with full Termi?

Hi gang! I've searched around but have not found anything specific on the Monster 1200(S). I've installed full Termi system on mine with the termi up-map installed. When looking at the shop manual I noticed you need to get the "Secondary Air System" out of the way when doing things like removing the airbox. From my understanding the SAS injects fresh air into the exhaust to help burn left over fuel in the exhaust so things are better for the catalytic converter. Being that I have the full termi map installed does this system still function? If it does not is there any reason not to remove it? Less hoses and removing a useless actuator is attractive to me for a number of reasons. Mostly because I don't believe in having unnecessary parts on the motorcycle, and also to have less things to move out of the way when it comes to working on the bike. Then the other question becomes, how to block off the air passages? I've seen kits for the Panigale, but nothing out there specific to the Monster 1200... THANKS!!!

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Monster has such a secondary air system.

It has a crank case breather that vents to the air box. Unusual mod to delte air box on the newer bikes.

Do you mean the environment friendly gizmo, the charcoal filter?

The newer Monsters (821, 1200) have what he is describing.

I'm not familiar with kits for eliminating the SAS on the Monster, but getting rid of it will reduce "chestnuts roasting on an open fire" syndrome.

Hey guys!

Bumping this thread back.  I've posted in multiple forums with no answers on this.

Still wanting to find out if the SAS is still used with the Full Termi up map.  And would like any info on removing th system if it's not longer used.

THANKS!

Hey guys..

I didn't see anything in Smartmoto's eBay store but sent them a message.

DarkMonster620!  what do you think on this?  I'm curious to know if the SAS is still even used with the Full Termi up map.  I am handy with electronics so my next step is going to be hooking up a monitoring circuit to the Actuator to see if it's even in use anymore.  Of course it would be great if someone on here just knows.

THANKS!

Would be worth getting hold of an accessory catalogue from your dealer to examine the full exhaust system kit.

AKAIK, is two hoses[pipes] and a "solenoid valve", locally NO full Termi have been installed since people dont want to dish out close to $4K plus labour . . . If I were you, I would purchase 2 plugs same size as hose[pipe] and test . . . Been far from dealer a while but, do get to work on some of the customers bikes that want nothing to do with dealsership, 4 techs since I left[16 months] . . . then, I would disconnect it and check if a MIL comes on . .  if so, then, leave it plug to the harness and if you notice better idle and pick up from idle, leave
