anyone installed aftermarket gauges?

anyone change out the stock gauges on a monster?  How difficult is it?  I really like these:

anything is possible.  i believe the toasty bike has that cluster on it,

I've talked with them at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.  Good guys.  Nice productions.  Would work great on a Superbike.  I personally think their gauges are a bit too "busy" for the more minimalistic Monster.

Given the two Ducati Monsters you listed (yours/wives) -- you have ECU/Immobilizer issues to deal with as the gauge pod is married to them.  Remove the gauges and the bike is dead unless you go to a FIM ECU (difficult but not impossible to get -- then you need mapping/knowhow to install)/  Do a search in regard to gauge installs with Immobilizer equipped bikes.

I've used the gauges -- easily integrated once you get past the ECU problem (or even easier on a carbie Monster)

I just installed one of these and it was very easy, but I don't have an imobilizer to worry about.

Last i remember, there is no aftermarket ECU for the S2R1000 due to the stepper motor.

Thanks for the replies, I kind of figured it would be something beyond my limited abilities to attempt. Oh well I guess I will look for another mod to persue, luckily there is no shortage when it comes to Monsters.

I would love to install this on my 620i.e.. Can someone explain to me what exactly I have to do to deal with the immobilizer issue?

Is it possile to take the imobilizer out of the stock gauges and move it somewhere else on the bike?

Yes. But then you have to make room under the tank for the now-gutted speedo cluster.

Talk to duck-stew... he's done this.

YO!! I'm looking to have that put on my '97 Monster.   [thumbsup]

What speedo sensor did you use? The universal (S - standard)? Did you use a magnet on the front or rear wheel? How easy was that install, did you just simply match wires from the old to the new gauge? Did they include brackets to bolt the piece down to your bike?

I used the universal sensor and I mounted it on the bracket that holds the rear brake caliper.  All I had to do to mount the sensor is drill and tap 2 holes.  I also had to lengthen the wire to reach the rear wheel.  It came with a 6mm magnetic screw and the rotor bolts are 8mm so I bought an 8mm bolt here http://www.trailtech.net/B011-8.html . To mount the unit I had to drill and tap a  6mm hole in the top triple clamp.  wiring was very easy the only problems I had were one of the connectors they sent was wired backwards (mirror image),  But once I figured that out Ijust had to pop the pins out and insert them into the correct spot per their print.  The oil light doesn't work because of the way Ducati wired it but it could be made to work very easily with a relay.  I'm not sure how the fuel gauge is going to work just yet,  but it has a trip meter so I am not that worried about it at this point.  I will mess with that maybe this winter to see if there's a way to make it work.  If you have any other questions let me know I'd be glad to help.

Not recommended.  Took me two days to wire up the bike's harness, and another 3 to finish the bits/pieces/etc.  Crazy amount of work.  Just lower the stock gauges and learn to love it.
