Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

Interesting. I was hoping to see tge crushed car bodies  go to the steel refinery.

Most of those cars looked to be in good shape. I guess they couldn't pass some kind of inspection any more.

Turn signals must not be working anymore, typical BMW issue.  ;)

Just imagine what the market price of a 1973 2002 tii would be if BMW had crushed every one that had a windshield washer malfunction or burned out headlight...

:'(

By the same token, I tried to help my neighbor get a mid-1990s 7-Series running after it had been sitting for nearly a decade - not an entirely ludicrous task, as he's a pro mechanic & automotive machinist, and I'm not nearly as stupid as I look. After months of work and thousands of dollars, we were no closer than when we stared - once something goes wrong with one of these, a trip to AutoZone isn't going to do the trick. He sold it for what he had in it to a guy who pulled the V-12 (and gave me the block  [thumbsup]) and all of the half dozen computers, somehow wedged a Chevy 350 & appropriate transmission in it, and is hooning around town in style.

I keep thinking of putting a chevy V8 in that 380 SLI have. The stock engine is a boat anchor and doesnt get good mileage.

When it comes to parts availability and aftermarket support, the 350 is hard to beat.  If you're ok with an auto transmission, the 700R4 that matches with the 350 is very reliable and also has a ton of aftermarket support.  That transmission was used in everything from trucks to corvettes to motorhomes behind both the 350 and the 454.
