Some circumstances led to me parting with the 899. I ended up purchasing this Monster 1200 today! It came in at 8.5K with just over 2000 miles on the odo. Only took me 3 months to pull the trigger.

I don't have many mods planned for the bike. I don't feel like it's the type of bike that I should build up to be a race bike -- but I will add enough comfort features to satisfy myself such as heated grips, windscreen, trickle charger, frame sliders, and Corbin Seat w/ Lady Rest. : )

Very nice and welcomeðŸ'.
Many here snap up a track only bike for bargain prices and keep their street bike for comfort. Its nice to not have to compromise.

Thanks Koko!
Keeping the Monster as a "sane" motorcycle is definitely part of the plan. : ) I'll look for a track RSV4/848/1098/1099/899/959/1299/1408 in good time. : )

Gotta say that although I like the cleaner look of the air cooled Monsters the more I look at your bike the more I appreciate the front trellis frame, tank shape and tidy sub frame over the 1100 Evo and 1100DS. Looks like you really sit in this bike.
I wonder if blacking out the radiator guard would help blend it in.  Here I am modding your bike ;D.

Thanks! I'm a bit worried I had made a mistake in not getting the "S" model -- and what direction to go with the base.

Haha! Ideas are very welcome. At the present I'm mostly doing comfort and protective mods.

The bike has Comp Werkes Fender Eliminator and Slip-on from previous owner

- Puig Black Windscreen
- Evotech Frame Sliders
- Sato Front/Rear Axle Sliders
- Tech Spec Tank Grips
- X-Ram Handlebar Phone Mount
- Comp Werkes dB killers
- Progrip 717's
- Omni Cruise Throttle Lock from my old bike

I don't know what direction to go as far as making the silver forks look cool : )

The functional and practical mods you list are better than bling and doodads [thumbsup].
There is no shortage of enablers here.;)
The forks look fine but for the reflector. One mod that keeps coming up here is people taking small components and painting them black  to tie them in. Its a subtle and inexpensive mod that makes you think the bike should have come that way or is factory finish. It's usually just a bracket here or there and makes me wonder if Ducati are trying to motivate us to buy carbon from their accessory catalogue [laugh].

Must have a heck of a lot of grunt. How are you finding ABS, TC, etc compared to the Pani?
Congratulations, looks like a lot of fun.

The power delivery is very different. The grunt on the M1200 feels like it comes on mid-range and falls off to red line. The front end likes to come up and the engine feels like more of a "thumper". Whereas the P899, (Termi slip ons + Up Map) the power delivery is quite smooth until 8K when all the torque hits until redline.

The ABS, DTC must all be using near the same algorithm because it feels nearly identical between ABS 0-3 and the DTC 0 to 8. M1200 lacks the EBC - Electronic Braking Control that automatically smoothens downshifts. Since the controls are both the same it feels nearly identical to navigate and find the settings even though the dash is different TFT vs LCD display. I prefer the LCD display because I find it more functional and has the gear indicator.

I few spray cans of engine enamel? Sure! But I don't think I'll be buying Carbon Fiber anytime soon, I purchased the wrecked 899 and it will be my track bike project over the winter. : )) No compromise.

Thanks for giving your riding impressions. Will be watching for the Pani project. [thumbsup]
Cheers.

I did my belt and engine covers in black and the rearsets to match my frame and wheels.  It was a rattle can job but it turned out really good.  IT was all high temp paint.

I think it looks good too! The blacked out look really makes the yellow tank and tail pop out : )
