Certainly more than what developed countries with strong infrastructures are used to or can handle. I hope these events dont become more frequent. One every thousand years is plenty.

Looking at maps, the flood area dwarfs some small countries. We live in large countries and I gotta remind myself of the scale of the catastrophe, say for example if it happened in Western Europe.

Yeah, most folks don't realize the scale of this.

24 trillion gallons of water came down, so they say. I was in Chattanooga this week and on the local news they said, if that amount of rain was concentrated onto the city, the water would be 22+ feet deep.

In the DFW area, we are starting to experience gas shortages, apparently.  I filled up last weekend  ;)

That will be an issue for all areas served by those refineries, and depots.

I'm considering buying heating fuel for winter very soon.

No prices will go down regardless where it 'normally' comes from.

Oddly, according to gasbuddy, current prices in DFW are $0.30+ more than they are in the Houston area.  I'm guessing demand is playing a little role in that, as many cars and roadways are still unusable.

Social media and the media are helping induce a panic inthe DFW area.

They made mention of using the Gas Buddy app to find gas stations that have gas. Good luck.

forget gas buddy, it's not updated and IDIOTS are waiting for fuel trucks taking up spots at the stations.  Gladly diesel is available so my truck is filled to the neck.

Gas prices are stupid in DFW area right now.  Went from $2.29 a couple days ago to $2.79+ now.

I drove to Tomball this afternoon and will be going with my uncle and cousin to volunteer this weekend.  Gas here is $2.25 or so.  [bang] [bang] [bang]
