How good is the traction control on monster 821?

Hi,
I dropped the bike while taking it out of the garage. There is a manhole cover just outside my drive way and it was in the turning path, I was leaning and accelerating while on the manhole cover and by the time I realized I was already on the ground. BTW, the temperature was around 25 F. So, is the traction control good on this bike or was it because of the tire being hard out of garage due to weather?.

Yeah, I know that was a stupid move but seriously the bike was in Urban mode and as I just started from my drive way I might be turning at 10-15mph☹️

Probably speed...not designed for the slow bits...it's percentage based...do if your doing 5mph a faster spinning rear will always slide in sport mode

DTC won't stop you from sliding sideways if it's slippery enough. Also, isn't there a limit to when (how slow) the DTC works?

I pretty much agree with Nick.

Cold tire, cold/wet/perhaps icy steel, turning...and you expect TC to save that? Not likely.

Next time don't run over the steel cover.

Sorry to hear you crashed man.

My daughter's Mitsubishi's traction control does not kick in until speeds of 20-30 kmph, but the GLW's Toyota's traction control kicks in at walking pace. The Mitsubishi owner's manual points this out, so it would be interesting to see what your owner's manual describes as the TC's parameters of operation.
What was the setting within Urban Mode? Default or manually adjusted? I would talk to your dealer to learn more and gain an understanding of how to get the best out of the system. Worth having it checked to ensure the TC is operating correctly. While you certainly conducted a severe test of the "Safety Pack", in your defence, you had confidence in it. I'm not so trusting.
I would want the Urban setting to be sensitive and working at low speeds because lets face it, a manhole cover is pretty bloody urban!

Condensation can be just as slick on a manhole cover...just a cruddy situation

It wasn't wet either.

I don't know why the signature is bothering you, but anyway I removed the signature 😉
