Hard to say, but I hope it's a long way out....  :-\

I get the occasional bout of reflux, but it's usually not bad. It typically goes hand in hand with too many beers and eating too late. However, I had a bout late last Friday night in my sleep (after too many beers and eating too late), it felt like i literally had a fire burning in my gut and my throat was the chimney. It took three Tums, a Prilosec, a glass of milk and sitting upright for the better part of an hour to quench it. Kind of freaked me out.....

I had GERD for a number of years while I was still married to my ex wife. It was pretty bad. Medication. Dietary changes etc. It felt like there was a handful of coals in there that someone was superheating by blowing on them with the air hose.

The week she moved out it quit. It just stopped. I only have issues now if I just plain abuse my stomach.

I'm not saying that this is *your* problem. Just that I can sympathize.

But, to answer the question I know for sure I won't die on a motorcycle. I'm not saying I'll never get hurt on one, just that I won't die because of riding.

I lean more toward an unfortunate intersection of my face and a rogue #10 can of beans that has drastically strayed off course.

But that's just a guess.

Interestingly enough...I was working at the track today. There was a motorcycle event.

A guy died...not because he crashed...he crashed because he died.

It was a bit unsettling as I was on scene as the paramedics were working on him. He looked like a ghost...never felt a thing.

The only positive I can find is the guy died while he was doing what he loved.

Carry on. I'm getting drunk.

There are worse ways to go. Sorry you had to see all that.

Local rider reportedly lost his license plate while riding Highway 33.

He went out Sunday on his bike to look for it.

The helicopter crew found him on Monday.

No info on whether he found the plate or not.

My inappropriate sense of humor will be involved, but how exactly... That I don't know.

Ugh, so sorry to see that you're dealing with all that, Nate.

Having been sleep deprived for a while (6 months+), I can sympathize with the effects of that.

With the amount of driving I do in all kinds of weather, traffic, terrain and conditions â€"  there's a good chance my demise will be behind the wheel.   ON 2-wheels with a sudden fatal onset of whatever issue similar to the guy on the moto would be my preferred way.

Three times in my life I thought it was my time.
â€" One was health related (Randimus witnessed that in Peru â€" I thought I was having a stroke)
â€" At the hands of an unknown to me at the time murderer (he killed two other friends)
â€" On a 4-passenger turbo plane that had an engine explode and the wing was fully engulfed.  The co-pilot told my two colleagues and I, "it looks like we're going to crash."

Health issues:  push hard for answers and asking about what you don't know and then verify with a second or 3rd opinion.  No one else will be your best champion other than yourself.

I think I'll have a tasty beverage tonight.

You're all appreciated.   [beer]
