and that lowering link really comes in handy, i think...though we should re-install that ohlins rear shock....it comes down pretty hard on that stock showa we popped in there.  are we still on for the custom seat-chopping session?

My plasma cutter is still broke (gotta order a new rectifier) so we're going to use the old fashoned hacksaw method on it.

I can't wait to see the look on his face.  He's going to love the new look.   [thumbsup]

That was me.  I was having trouble finding a decent boat to use for the labor day weekend at a fair price.  I did find one that i think is going to be a pretty good deal.  I wouldn't swap my bike to just anybody but if someone had a badass wakeboard boat worth at least what my bike is i'd consider it if they seemed trustworthy.  It's was intended more for bait, get someone interested then talk them out of swap and just pay cash to rent.  Just in case your wondering I got several responses regarding a swap but just as i thought nobody willing to give up something of more value.  That's what i figured but thought it might be worth a try.

By the way if ya'll want to organize a ride out there on saturday  august 30th come on by grab some food and drinks, go for a spin in the boat, maybe jump off the cliffs, then lets go on a ride.  Or if there are any toadies fans out there feel free to join us on sunday.  does anybody know of any good spots to ride dirt bikes out there?  i was thinking about taking mine.

So - I'm just curious - are there similar "rules" about borrowing bikes & lending bikes ?

My personal rules are "Never borrow anything you can't afford to replace, never lend anything you can't afford to lose."

If I crash your bike, I have to (at least offer to) buy you a new one - that's my rule - if I can't afford to replace it I won't ride it.

If I lend you a bike it's because I've made an assumption that you'd do the same for me, but if that assumption's wrong, I recognize there's not a whole lot of point making lawyers rich arguing about it, and I'll wear the cost myself (and probably warn everybody else about you, at least partly to make myself feel better...). If I assume you can't or won't replace my bike if you crash it, you don't get to ride it.

It means I don't get to ride everything that's offered, but I'm OK with that. _I_ think I'm doing "the right thing".

[moto] no c - thanks for outing yourself and ending the curiousity & betting pool about who offered Duc for boat !  I think your gambit was very interesting & caused a fairly interesting thread and comments ! [moto]

Ironically, I got to ride n2f's ( what happened to Cher? ) Monster when it belonged to DLS !  It was very brief ride but quite a thrill & I really like that machine.  I have signed my life away & test driven an S4R that belonged to AMS also quite a thrill - not sure I ever made it to 4th gear though - I rode twists in Oak Cliff.  Experiences like this helped me realize a SBK is more of a fantasy than a realistic goal for a regular cycle commuter like myself - I like to zip but not rip !

Seems like swapping could be cool under just the right circumstances but, otherwise disastrous !  Guess this is why a lot of bikes for sale say NO RIDES !

Anyway thanks to everyone for sharing  [laugh] your thoughts

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

no problem.  I haven't loaned this one out yet and still don't feel like i ever will, i've been waiting to long for this ride.  That would've had to been a nice boat.  I used to lend my monster to good friends and that usually worked out great.  I'm probably a little too trustworthy but that's just me.  Any body want to take a guess what happened to my old monster the first time i let someone of questionable charecter ride my bike?  Will I ever lend this one out to friends just because the want to switch? yea eventually, i like riding other bikes to much. i want to get some good use out of this one though because any thing could happen.   If anybody could talk some sense into me i'd appreciate it.

That being said, i don't know if i'd ever let one of ya'll crazy ass people ride my bike. ;)

Anyone have a 1098, S4R or SC they are willing to loan out?  ;D  2 kidneys in good running condition as collateral... well you can only have 1.

I have all 3, as long as I can ride 848, and we ride together, you can ride any...even the 1098s [thumbsup]
