Mother-in-law just bought a 2008 Triumph Bonne T100 and I'll probably be picking it up for her today.  I don't know much about these bikes, other than they've been around forever and look pretty classy.  Anybody know any pros or cons about the new T100?  It's a cool looking bike and I'm excited to ride it, but is there anything she needs to watch out for?  Post up!

Can't wait for mom to get this bike!  It is very cool.  Watch out for people falling asleep on the back!  No, I am serious - my papaw had one of these and he took my uncle Okey for a ride.  Uncle Okey fell asleep and fell off the back!  Guess he didn't really get hurt because it has always been a funny story in our family!

Watch out for women driving minivans. And trucks. And pretty much anything I guess.

Having had an '02 Bonneville - Watch out for grooved pavement.  It's old school rigid frame and doesn't flex like the Duc.  It feels like you hit ice on overpasses like 635 and 35 (maybe some different tires?).  Buy a windscreen, its a "Touring Posture" so spend the money for the Triumph Winter Screen ($500) or your mom is going to eat a lot of bugs.  Use Stabil if you don't run it in the winter, the float can get stuck and its a PITA to have them cleaned.  Enjoy!

One more thing - One day in the near future, it won't start.  Oh, it won't, it won't , it won't start.  You'll practicaly wear the battery out.  Then...

she'll remember to turn on the fuel switch  [bang]

Maria,

Good suggestion about the Stabil vs carbs fight club. :P Gas is so incredibly screwed up and shitty these days you HAVE to use Stabil all the time with any carbed bike. If she doesn't ride it all the time using Stabil is a must. Even with Stabil I crank up my Kawi ZRX1200 at least once a week to warm it up and run some "Stabilized" fuel through the carbs if I haven't ridden it lately. Nothing is worse than hassling with a bank of 4 carbs and doing open heart surgery trying to clean up all the jets, needle valves and passage ways due to clogs from evaporated gas. Stabil is no miracle but it damn sure helps. [thumbsup]

So, Tommy and I made a loop yesterday evening with my mom ( who was on her new triumph bonne).  All went well until we were close to home and she wasn't behind us anymore.  We pulled into the neighborhood and I went home to wait while Tommy decided to turn around and look for her, considering this is only her second time on this new bike and she refuses to wear a full face helmet.  I was still waiting in the driveway nearly ten minutes later when mom pulled around the corner, grinning, with a milkshake from Sonic tucked into her (not so small) hip purse.  She stopped at our driveway and pulled it out to get a drink when Tommy came around the corner, just shaking his head.  Apparently she was hot and thirsty, WTH!

D@mn, your mom is cool.  [thumbsup]
We were thinking - irritating - since she got us so worried when she was just getting a d@mn milkshake!  (Not that Tommy and I haven't irritated her a few times...I don't know, making her a grandma at age 41?!?)  Anyway, I guess she's cool today because she is out on a sailboat!  I'm not jealous!  ;D

moral of the story, when your fatass gets too hot on your bike and you're riding with other ppl, have the common courtesy to let them know if you are gonna stop and feed your face.  That way ppl who might be a lil concerned about your health(bc you're only wearing jeans, tank top and half helmet) don't have to speed off looking for you.
