Thats just a product of viewing angle. they call it superluminal position. Its not that the wave travels faster, it just appears that way because of how the photons reach our eyes.

The idea of moving faster than light is pretty hard to break down since we build things based on the idea of special relativity. Though if special relativity were to break down, it doesnt seem like it would affect quantum mechanics, which seems to be as concrete as newtons laws of motions as far as i can tell. So I say shoot for the moon, maybe you can travel faster than light!

You should read the article. It's a bit more than that. A quote from the article:

QuoteTime evolution of the pulse as it
propagates through the fiber. The data have been
normalized at each point in the fiber to remove the
effects of gain. The peak of the transmitted pulse is
seen to exit the fiber before the peak of the
incident pulse enters the fiber, and inside the fiber
the peak moves from right to left as time increases.
The arrows mark the peak of the pulse before
entering the fiber (left), within the fiber (center),
and after leaving the fiber (right). The time
intervals are in milliseconds.

QuoteFig. 2. Input and output waveforms after propagation through a 6-m length of erbium-doped fiber. The output waveform is seen to be advanced in time and to experience slight distortion. Pulse heights are normalized to facilitate comparison of input and output pulse shapes.

Can't. Alcoholic on the wagon. Conflicts with my meds too. Works well when I'm not taking meds though. Tried melatonin? Useually works for me, and alot easier on the system than Benedryll(Diphenhydramine). I'm tiered. Good night

He Man

melatonin? isnt that a chemical you make from being in the sun?

I dont take meds cause i dont have health insurance. shit is way to expensive for my blood, which is why i keep it in my body and not on the floor.

Benedryll works great, but usually i just have a cyclical crash on and off. 2 days up, 1 day sleeping. works for me. in fact im on my 2nd day up. crash monday night....after MNF of course.

No, That's melonin. Meletonin is the chemical in the brain that tells the body when  to sleep. It's the opposite of seratonin. It's over the counter and not too expensive.

i read an article one time about Melatonin, and i always get mixed up because of this article.

It said that they took a few people and placed them in a room with no windows for a week or two. This person started to fall asleep based on the light cycles given off by the lamp. So when he thought it was day, he would have the lamp on, and when he thought it was night, he had the lamp off. This whole thing causes his meletonin levels to react to the lamp. But i cant seem to find any stuff on melatonin being controlled by light exposure.  :-X

got the article btw. thanks, ill read it later this week. Now...back to work!

That article was complete bs on the account that it had no information on what the device was doing. So I cant really comment on "moving a light particle faster than light" cause it makes no mention of actually doing that. The writer sure did sound like she messed up the main idea of the scientist she was interviewing though...

Im no expert, but i know you can make things appear as if they were traveling faster than light, but the end result of appearing is perspective based, not actually moving a light particle faster than light.

I wish there was more on that. But this whole stuff is pretty make the beast with two backsing crazy to begin with.

In case you can't sleep after your test. Here is the complete article on the subject of Radio Waves being manipulated to Superluminal velocities. I wasn't able to follow most of it, but assuming the math is acurate(probably is), that is quite a discovery. Could really change the information age alot.

http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/physics/pdf/0405/0405062v1.pdf

As for the article I e-mailed you, you might be right, but I have read other sources in reguards to sending opticle information faster than light speed also(citing Robert Boyd's discovery). Can't find them now and I lost all my links on the subject. BUT, the above article on superluminal radiowaves kind of set precident for other advancements past Einstien's law. IE: No information can surpass the speed of light. And since radio waves and light waves are very similar, I can only suspect that, as Singleton stated, this could be how pulsars work.

He Man

Thats one make the beast with two backsign long as paper....

Its getting way beyond my scope of knowledge. But from reading bits and pieces, it still doenst look like they are making a photon go faster than the speed of light in a vacuum, they are just making it appear that way.
